When your website is ready, the next step is to submit it to search engines. You have two choices; manually or use automatic software. Automatic promotion software can save you a lot of time as the details of the website needed to be entered only once, and from there the website will be submitted automatically to search engines. On the other hand, manual website submission requires you to do everything from research to submission yourself.

Automated software:

• Banned by a lot of major search engines- some of the major search engines ban websites that are using automatic submission software as this is part of their spam management

• Loss of control over the description of your website- automated submission will choose the best category for your website without asking for your permission. If you pre-define the category as ‘health supplements’ and this category is not available, the software may choose ‘others’ for your website 
• Ability of optimization- you lose the ability to optimize each submission according to the requirements set by each search engine

• Saves you plenty of time as you only need to enter the information required for website submission once and the software will do the next steps for you, especially when you need to re-submit for a couple of times

Manual submission:

• One can submit the website in the suitable category

• You will know what are the requirements of each of the search engines or directories for example what they permit to be included in your website

• Safe because it is the only website submission approved by search engines and directories

• The only submission method accepted by directories as they require unique information to your website

• If there are any changes to the requirements for submission, you will be able to spot them and respond to the changes, something that robot cannot do

It is better to submit your website manually especially if you are submitting to directory sites such as Yahoo, Open Directory, Looksmart or Snap. Manual submission will take more of your time, but it is worth it as some search engines and all directories have banned websites using automated submitting software. Although you may save plenty of time by paying a small fee for automated software, there are other disadvantages that you must consider. However, if you have analyzed both of these methods can use them simultaneously to optimize your website submission, it will be great.
